DICREX 1ml Injection is a potent injectable formulation of Diclofenac Sodium 75 mg, a widely used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is administered when fast-acting pain relief and reduction of inflammation are required and oral medication is not suitable or sufficient.
Biozia Lifesciences' DICREX Injection is used in clinical and hospital settings to quickly manage moderate to severe pain from musculoskeletal conditions, postoperative pain, renal colic, and other acute inflammatory conditions.
This medicine is commonly used for:
Indicated for the acute short-term treatment of moderate to severe pain including postoperative pain, renal or biliary colic, acute musculoskeletal pain and trauma, acute exacerbations of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, and acute attacks of gout. Parenteral diclofenac sodium is used when rapid onset of analgesia is required and the oral route is impractical.
DICREX works by blocking the production of certain natural chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which are responsible for causing pain, swelling, and fever. By reducing prostaglandin production quickly through injection, DICREX provides rapid relief from pain and inflammation at the site of injury or inflammation.
Diclofenac sodium is a potent non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins, prostacyclin, and thromboxane from arachidonic acid. The reduction in prostaglandin E2 and I2 at peripheral nociceptors decreases sensitisation of pain receptors. Intramuscular administration results in rapid peak plasma concentrations (within 20–40 minutes), providing faster onset of analgesia compared to oral formulations.
Diclofenac is one of the most widely prescribed NSAIDs in the world and is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, highlighting its importance in managing pain globally.
DICREX 1ml Injection is given as an intramuscular injection by a healthcare professional, as prescribed by your doctor. It is intended for short-term use only. The number of injections and the duration of treatment are decided by your doctor based on your condition.
Always follow the dosage and schedule advised by your doctor — this is general guidance only.
Common side effects may include pain or tenderness at the injection site, mild nausea, stomach discomfort, or dizziness. In some cases, it may affect kidney function or cause elevated liver enzymes with prolonged use. Tell your doctor if any side effect is severe or persistent.
Diclofenac injections are completely safe because they bypass the stomach.
While injections avoid direct stomach irritation, diclofenac still reduces prostaglandins that protect the stomach lining. Gastrointestinal side effects can still occur, especially with prolonged use.
NSAID injections can be given as frequently as needed without risk.
NSAIDs like diclofenac are recommended for short-term use. Frequent or long-term use increases the risk of kidney, liver, and cardiovascular side effects.
