Albozen-400 Suspension contains Albendazole 400 mg, a broad-spectrum anthelmintic (antiparasitic) agent used to treat a variety of intestinal worm infections. The suspension form makes it particularly easy to administer to children and those who have difficulty swallowing tablets.
Biozia Lifesciences' Albozen-400 Suspension is effective against a wide range of common parasitic worm infections, including roundworm, tapeworm, hookworm, and whipworm, providing a convenient oral treatment option for both adults and children.
This medicine is commonly used for:
Indicated for the treatment of intestinal nematode and cestode infections including ascariasis, enterobiasis, ancylostomiasis, trichuriasis, and strongyloidiasis. Also indicated for tissue-invasive infections including hydatid disease (cystic echinococcosis) and neurocysticercosis, as well as visceral larva migrans and cutaneous larva migrans. The suspension formulation is particularly suited for paediatric dosing and mass drug administration (MDA) programmes.
Albozen-400 works by disrupting the energy supply of parasitic worms. It blocks a specific process worms need to absorb glucose — their main fuel — causing them to gradually lose energy and die. The dead worms are then naturally expelled from the body through the digestive system.
Albendazole exerts its anthelmintic effect by binding selectively to beta-tubulin of helminth cells, inhibiting tubulin polymerisation and disrupting microtubule-dependent intracellular transport. This leads to impaired glucose uptake, depletion of glycogen stores, reduced ATP production, and autophagic vacuolisation in the absorptive cells of the parasite, resulting in its death. Albendazole also inhibits fumarate reductase in helminth mitochondria, further impairing energy metabolism. Its active metabolite, albendazole sulphoxide, achieves sufficient systemic concentrations to act on tissue-invasive parasites.
Albendazole is one of the most widely used medicines in mass deworming programmes around the world. The WHO recommends preventive chemotherapy with Albendazole for school-age children in regions where worm infections are common, helping millions of children each year.
Albozen-400 Suspension should be taken as directed by your doctor. For most common intestinal worms, it is usually given as a single dose or a short course. Taking it with a small meal (particularly a fatty meal) can improve absorption. Always follow your doctor's instructions.
Always follow the dosage and schedule advised by your doctor — this is general guidance only.
Common intestinal worm infections treated with a single dose are generally very well tolerated. Some people may experience mild nausea, stomach pain, or headache. For longer courses (as in hydatid disease), liver enzymes may be affected. Tell your doctor if any side effect is severe or persistent.
Deworming medicines like Albendazole are only needed once in a lifetime.
Worm infections can recur, especially in areas with poor sanitation. Periodic deworming — as recommended by doctors or public health guidelines — is important for ongoing protection.
Albendazole kills all types of parasites including bacteria and viruses.
Albendazole is specifically effective against certain parasitic worms (helminths). It has no activity against bacteria, viruses, or protozoa.
