Moxifloxacin and dexamethasone eye drops combine a broad-spectrum antibiotic with a potent corticosteroid. They are routinely prescribed after cataract surgery and for eye infections with significant inflammation. This guide explains how the combination works, its uses and dosing, the steroid precautions, and how Biozia supplies it as Visiquin-D Eye Drop.
Biozia manufactures this combination eye drop as:
| Brand | Composition | Packing |
|---|---|---|
| Visiquin-D Eye Drop | Moxifloxacin 0.5% w/v + Dexamethasone 0.1% w/v | 5ml |
Moxifloxacin blocks bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, killing a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative eye pathogens. Dexamethasone suppresses inflammation, reducing redness, swelling and pain. Together they prevent or treat infection while controlling the inflammation that follows surgery or accompanies infection.
The usual dose is one drop in the affected eye up to four times a day, for the duration prescribed by the eye specialist, often with a tapering schedule after surgery. Do not stop suddenly or extend treatment without advice.
Temporary stinging, burning, blurred vision and eye irritation can occur.
Antibiotic-steroid eye drops are prescribed after virtually every cataract surgery, making them a high-volume product for eye hospitals and ophthalmic distributors. Visiquin-D fits Biozia’s ophthalmic range alongside moxifloxacin-loteprednol, olopatadine and lubricant drops.

They are used after eye surgery such as cataract surgery, and for bacterial eye infections with inflammation.
Only as long as the eye specialist prescribes, often 1 to 4 weeks with tapering after surgery. Long-term steroid use needs eye-pressure monitoring.
No. Steroid eye drops can worsen viral and fungal eye infections and must not be used for them.
Yes. Visiquin-D is available for PCD franchise, and Biozia’s sterile ophthalmic line manufactures it under client brands.
