Ziaxone-1gm Injection contains Ceftriaxone 1000 mg, a powerful third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic widely used in hospitals and clinical settings to treat a broad range of serious bacterial infections. Ceftriaxone's long half-life allows once-daily dosing, making it a practical and effective treatment option.
Biozia Lifesciences' Ziaxone-1gm is a trusted antibiotic injection for managing infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, abdomen, meninges, and more — especially when the infection requires parenteral therapy.
This medicine is commonly used for:
Indicated for the treatment of susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial infections including community-acquired and nosocomial pneumonia, complicated urinary tract infections and pyelonephritis, bacterial meningitis, intra-abdominal infections (peritonitis, biliary tract infections), septicaemia, skin and soft-tissue infections, bone and joint infections, uncomplicated gonorrhoea, pelvic inflammatory disease, and surgical prophylaxis. Effective against a broad spectrum including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Enterobacteriaceae, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria meningitidis, and many others.
Ziaxone-1gm targets the protective outer wall of bacteria. It blocks the bacteria from building and maintaining this wall, causing the bacteria to burst and die. Because of its long action in the body, it usually only needs to be given once a day, which simplifies treatment while maintaining effective bacterial killing.
Ceftriaxone is a third-generation cephalosporin that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding irreversibly to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), specifically PBP-1a, PBP-1b, and PBP-3. This inhibits the final cross-linking step of peptidoglycan biosynthesis, leading to cell wall instability and autolytic bacterial death. Ceftriaxone's extended plasma half-life (approximately 8 hours) enables once-daily dosing. Its low protein binding variability and broad Gram-negative coverage (including beta-lactamase producers via intrinsic stability to many beta-lactamases) make it highly versatile for empirical therapy.
Ceftriaxone is one of the most widely used antibiotics in the world and appears on the WHO's Essential Medicines List. Its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier makes it one of the preferred treatments for bacterial meningitis.
Ziaxone-1gm Injection is administered by a healthcare professional either intravenously (into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle), as prescribed by your doctor. The dose and frequency depend on the type and severity of the infection. Always complete the full prescribed course.
Always follow the dosage and schedule advised by your doctor — this is general guidance only.
Common side effects may include pain at the injection site, diarrhoea, nausea, and rash. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur. Ceftriaxone can cause biliary sludge with prolonged use in some patients. Tell your doctor if any side effect is severe or persistent.
Ceftriaxone injection is only for adults.
Ceftriaxone is used in patients of all ages — including children and infants — with dose adjustments based on weight and age, under paediatric specialist guidance.
If the fever goes away quickly, the antibiotic course can be stopped.
Fever resolving does not mean all bacteria have been eliminated. Stopping the antibiotic early can lead to relapse or the development of resistant bacteria. Always complete the full prescribed course.
