Petiol Plus is a combination tablet containing Aceclofenac 100 mg, Paracetamol 325 mg, and Serratiopeptidase 15 mg. This triple-action formula brings together two analgesic and anti-inflammatory agents with a proteolytic enzyme to provide comprehensive relief from pain, swelling, and inflammation.
The unique addition of Serratiopeptidase in Petiol Plus helps break down inflammatory proteins and tissue debris, reducing swelling more effectively than pain medicines alone. This makes it a commonly prescribed option for musculoskeletal pain, post-operative recovery, and conditions where both pain and oedema need to be managed.
This medicine is commonly used for:
Aceclofenac-Paracetamol-Serratiopeptidase combination is indicated for the symptomatic management of pain and oedema associated with musculoskeletal disorders, osteoarthritis, post-operative and post-traumatic inflammation, acute dental pain, and soft tissue injuries. Aceclofenac provides potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity; Paracetamol contributes central analgesic and antipyretic effects; Serratiopeptidase facilitates resolution of oedema, fibrinous exudate, and inflammatory debris.
Aceclofenac in Petiol Plus blocks inflammatory chemicals (prostaglandins) that cause pain and swelling at the injury site. Paracetamol acts on the brain to reduce the pain signal and lower fever if present. Serratiopeptidase is a natural enzyme that helps break down and clear away fluid and proteins that accumulate in swollen tissues, helping the swelling go down faster and supporting the healing process.
Aceclofenac inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 and COX-2 enzymes, suppressing prostaglandin E2 synthesis at sites of inflammation and reducing vascular permeability and nociceptor sensitisation. Paracetamol modulates CNS prostaglandin synthesis and activates descending serotonergic inhibitory pathways for analgesic and antipyretic effects. Serratiopeptidase (serralysin) is a metalloprotease derived from Serratia E15 that hydrolyses bradykinin, fibrin, and other inflammatory peptides at the site of oedema, reducing tissue swelling, improving microcirculation, and accelerating resolution of post-inflammatory exudate.
Serratiopeptidase was originally isolated from bacteria found in the gut of silkworms, which use it to dissolve their cocoons. Scientists discovered that this same enzyme has powerful anti-inflammatory properties in the human body.
Petiol Plus is generally taken after food to protect the stomach, for the duration and frequency prescribed by your doctor. Serratiopeptidase should ideally not be taken with food for optimal absorption — follow your doctor's specific guidance. Do not use for longer than recommended without medical advice.
Always follow the dosage and schedule advised by your doctor — this is general guidance only.
Common side effects may include nausea, stomach pain, heartburn, or loose motions. Dizziness or headache may occasionally occur. Long-term use of NSAIDs can affect the stomach lining. Tell your doctor if any side effect is severe or persistent.
Enzyme tablets like Serratiopeptidase are not real medicines.
Serratiopeptidase is a clinically studied proteolytic enzyme that helps reduce post-surgical swelling and tissue inflammation. It is a recognised therapeutic agent used alongside analgesics worldwide.
Taking pain tablets will make the injury heal faster.
Pain tablets manage the symptoms of pain and swelling but do not directly speed up tissue healing. Rest, proper treatment, and follow-up with your doctor are essential for recovery.
