Cefzia-200 DT Tablet is a dispersible tablet containing Cefixime 200 mg, a broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Its dispersible (DT) formulation dissolves easily in water, making it particularly convenient for patients who have difficulty swallowing conventional tablets, including children and the elderly.
Manufactured by Biozia Lifesciences, Cefzia-200 DT is effective against a wide range of bacterial infections, especially those involving the respiratory tract, urinary tract, and ears. The dispersible form ensures accurate dosing and better patient compliance.
This medicine is commonly used for:
Cefixime is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms including uncomplicated urinary tract infections (Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis), otitis media (Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Streptococcus pyogenes), pharyngitis and tonsillitis (S. pyogenes), acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, uncomplicated gonorrhoea (Neisseria gonorrhoeae), and enteric fever (Salmonella typhi).
Cefzia-200 DT works by attacking the outer wall of bacteria. Bacteria need a strong cell wall to survive, and cefixime interferes with the enzymes that build and maintain this wall. Without an intact cell wall, bacteria cannot survive, so the infection is cleared. The dispersible form means the tablet dissolves in water, making it easy to take.
Cefixime is a semisynthetic oral cephalosporin that exerts bactericidal activity by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) on the bacterial cell membrane, thereby inhibiting transpeptidation and cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains during cell wall synthesis. This results in osmotic instability and bacterial cell lysis. Cefixime is resistant to many beta-lactamases produced by gram-negative organisms and demonstrates high activity against Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, and Enterobacteriaceae.
Cefixime is one of the few oral cephalosporins that can achieve concentrations in the urine high enough to treat urinary tract infections reliably, while also being effective for respiratory and ear infections — making it a versatile single antibiotic for many common community infections.
Cefzia-200 DT should be taken as directed by your doctor. Dissolve the tablet in a small amount of water before taking. It can be taken with or without food, though taking it with food may help reduce stomach upset. Always complete the full prescribed course.
Always follow the dosage and schedule advised by your doctor — this is general guidance only.
Most people tolerate Cefzia-200 DT well. Possible side effects include mild diarrhoea, nausea, stomach pain, and headache. Occasionally, skin rash or mild allergic reactions may occur. If you notice any signs of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing or swelling, seek medical attention promptly. Tell your doctor if any side effect is severe or persistent.
Dispersible tablets are weaker than regular tablets.
Dispersible tablets contain exactly the same amount of active drug as conventional tablets. The only difference is the formulation — they dissolve in water for easier swallowing. The dose and effectiveness are identical.
You can use leftover antibiotics for a new infection.
Leftover antibiotics may be the wrong type or insufficient quantity for a new infection. Using them without medical advice can mask symptoms, lead to incomplete treatment, and contribute to antibiotic resistance. Always consult a doctor for a new infection.
