Moxizia-CV Forte Dry Syrup contains a higher-strength formulation of Amoxycillin 400 mg and Potassium Clavulanate 57 mg per 5 ml — a double-strength paediatric antibiotic suspension for older children or more severe infections requiring a higher dose. The combination of amoxycillin with clavulanate ensures effective action even against bacteria that have developed resistance.
Recommended by paediatricians when a stronger antibiotic dose is needed, Moxizia-CV Forte Dry Syrup covers a broad spectrum of bacteria responsible for common childhood infections such as severe ear infections, lower respiratory tract infections, and complicated urinary tract infections.
This medicine is commonly used for:
Amoxycillin 400 mg / Potassium Clavulanate 57 mg per 5 ml oral suspension is indicated for paediatric patients requiring higher-dose amoxycillin-clavulanate therapy, including treatment of recurrent or severe acute otitis media, acute bacterial sinusitis, community-acquired pneumonia, and lower respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible or beta-lactamase-producing organisms. This formulation is especially relevant in areas with higher rates of penicillin-non-susceptible Streptococcus pneumoniae, where higher amoxycillin exposure is recommended.
Like the standard Moxizia-CV formulation, the Forte version uses amoxycillin to break down the bacterial cell wall and clavulanate to protect it from bacterial enzymes. The higher dose delivers a greater concentration of the antibiotic, making it more effective for serious or stubborn infections in older or heavier children.
Amoxycillin exerts bactericidal activity through irreversible binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs 1A, 1B, 2, 3), inhibiting transpeptidation of peptidoglycan and causing cell lysis. Potassium clavulanate, a beta-lactam beta-lactamase inhibitor, irreversibly inactivates a broad range of bacterial beta-lactamases by progressive acylation of the enzyme's active site serine residue, thereby preventing amoxycillin degradation. The 7:1 amoxycillin-to-clavulanate ratio in the Forte formulation maximises pharmacodynamic efficacy while limiting gastrointestinal exposure to clavulanate.
The 7:1 ratio of amoxycillin to clavulanate in Forte formulations (400/57 mg) was specifically developed to deliver a higher antibiotic dose while reducing the amount of clavulanate — because it is the clavulanate, not the amoxycillin, that is primarily responsible for diarrhoea as a side effect.
Moxizia-CV Forte Dry Syrup should be given exactly as prescribed by the child's doctor. It is best administered at the start of a meal to maximise absorption and reduce stomach upset. Shake the bottle well before every dose, and always complete the full prescribed course.
Always follow the dosage and schedule advised by your doctor — this is general guidance only.
Common side effects include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. A mild skin rash may occasionally occur. Diarrhoea is less common with the optimised 7:1 formulation than with older amoxycillin-clavulanate ratios. Tell your doctor if any side effect is severe or persistent.
A stronger antibiotic syrup will work faster and cure the infection sooner.
The duration of antibiotic treatment is based on the type and severity of infection, not just the strength of the medicine. Completing the full prescribed course — even if the child improves quickly — is essential to ensure complete eradication of bacteria.
Antibiotic-related diarrhoea means the child is allergic to the medicine.
Mild diarrhoea is a common, non-allergic side effect of antibiotics, particularly broad-spectrum combinations. A true allergic reaction typically involves a rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty. If you are unsure, consult your doctor.
