Nimzia-P is a combination tablet containing Nimesulide 100 mg and Paracetamol 325 mg. It is prescribed to provide effective relief from pain and fever by combining two complementary pain-relieving medicines that work through different pathways in the body.
The dual-action formula in Nimzia-P means that Nimesulide tackles inflammation at its source while Paracetamol provides quick and gentle relief from pain and high temperature, making it a widely used option for conditions like headaches, joint pain, muscle aches, and fever.
This medicine is commonly used for:
Nimesulide-Paracetamol combination is indicated for the symptomatic relief of mild to moderate acute pain including musculoskeletal pain, osteoarthritis pain, post-traumatic pain, dental pain, primary dysmenorrhoea, and pyrexia. Nimesulide provides anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity via preferential COX-2 inhibition, while Paracetamol contributes central analgesic and antipyretic effects, offering additive efficacy with complementary mechanisms.
Nimesulide in Nimzia-P reduces inflammation and pain by blocking specific enzymes (COX-2) that produce inflammatory chemicals in the body. Paracetamol acts on the brain and nervous system to lower body temperature and reduce the sensation of pain. Together, they provide broader and faster pain and fever relief than either medicine alone.
Nimesulide is a preferential cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor that suppresses the synthesis of prostaglandins and thromboxanes at sites of inflammation, reducing vascular permeability, oedema, and nociceptor sensitisation. It also inhibits neutrophil activation and superoxide generation. Paracetamol inhibits prostaglandin synthesis centrally in the CNS and modulates the endocannabinoid system and descending serotonergic pain pathways, conferring analgesic and antipyretic effects without significant peripheral anti-inflammatory activity.
Nimesulide was one of the first preferential COX-2 selective NSAIDs developed, giving it a better gastrointestinal safety profile compared to older non-selective NSAIDs like Ibuprofen when used for short periods under medical supervision.
Nimzia-P is usually taken after meals to protect the stomach, for the shortest duration needed to control symptoms, as advised by your doctor. Do not exceed the dose or duration recommended by your physician. It is not intended for long-term unsupervised use.
Always follow the dosage and schedule advised by your doctor — this is general guidance only.
Some people may experience nausea, stomach pain, heartburn, or indigestion. Rarely, dizziness or a mild skin rash may occur. Prolonged use can affect the stomach lining or liver, so it should be used only as directed. Tell your doctor if any side effect is severe or persistent.
Painkillers are addictive and should be avoided altogether.
Non-opioid analgesics like those in Nimzia-P are not addictive. When used for the prescribed duration and dose, they are safe and effective for managing pain and fever.
Taking a painkiller immediately suppresses fever and means the infection is cured.
Painkillers and antipyretics control symptoms but do not treat the underlying cause. If fever or pain persists, consult your doctor for appropriate treatment.
