MagZia-Plus Suspension (S/F) is a sugar-free antacid and antiflatulent suspension containing Magaldrate 400 mg and Simethicone 20 mg per 5 ml. MagZia-Plus Suspension works in two complementary ways: Magaldrate neutralises the excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach to relieve the burning sensation, heartburn, and gastric pain. Simethicone breaks down large, trapped gas bubbles in the stomach and intestines into smaller bubbles that can be expelled more easily, relieving bloating and uncomfortable fullness.
Mechanism of Action
Magaldrate is a hydroxymagnesium aluminate compound that acts as a non-systemic antacid. Unlike simple aluminium or magnesium salts, Magaldrate is a co-crystallised complex that reacts with hydrochloric acid in a slow, sustained manner, maintaining intragastric pH between 3.5 and 5 without causing acid rebound. It also has cytoprotective properties by stimulating prostaglandin E2 synthesis in gastric mucosa and adsorbs pepsin. Simethicone is a surfactant polymer that reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal lumen, causing them to coalesce and facilitating their expulsion via belching or flatus; it is physiologically inert and not absorbed systemically.

Magaldrate is a unique antacid that works differently from simple magnesium or aluminium salts. It releases aluminium and magnesium ions gradually in response to acid, which means it neutralises acid smoothly over time rather than in a sudden burst — and is much less likely to cause the acid rebound (where the stomach overproduces acid after the antacid wears off) that is common with simple sodium bicarbonate antacids.
When & How to Take
MagZia-Plus Suspension should be taken as prescribed by your doctor, usually after meals and at bedtime. Shake the bottle well before use. Antacids are generally more effective when taken 1–2 hours after meals rather than immediately before food. Follow your doctor's instructions.
