Ziacal Suspension (Sugar-Free) contains Calcium Carbonate 500 mg and Vitamin D3 200 IU in a convenient liquid form, designed to support healthy bones and teeth and ensure adequate calcium intake in individuals of all ages.
Calcium and Vitamin D3 work together as a classic nutritional pairing — Biozia's Ziacal Suspension delivers both in an easy-to-take, sugar-free formulation that is suitable for diabetic patients and those who prefer avoiding added sugars.
This medicine is commonly used for:
Calcium Carbonate + Vitamin D3 supplement is indicated for the prevention and adjunctive management of calcium deficiency states including hypocalcaemia, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, and hypoparathyroidism. It is also indicated as nutritional supplementation during pregnancy, lactation, and periods of rapid skeletal growth in children and adolescents. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) enhances intestinal calcium absorption and promotes renal calcium reabsorption, critical for maintaining serum calcium homeostasis.
Calcium Carbonate provides the body with calcium, the mineral most needed for building and maintaining strong bones and teeth. Vitamin D3 acts like a key that helps the body absorb calcium from the gut efficiently — without enough Vitamin D3, much of the calcium consumed would simply pass through without being used. Together, they ensure that your bones receive the calcium they need.
Calcium Carbonate dissociates in the acidic gastric environment to release calcium ions, which are absorbed across intestinal epithelial cells via vitamin D-dependent active transport (TRPV6 channels) and passive diffusion. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) undergoes hepatic hydroxylation to 25-hydroxyvitamin D3, then renal hydroxylation to the active form 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (calcitriol). Calcitriol binds to the intracellular vitamin D receptor (VDR), upregulating expression of calbindin and intestinal calcium transport proteins, and stimulating renal tubular reabsorption of calcium, collectively increasing serum calcium levels and supporting mineralisation of bone matrix.
Vitamin D is often called the 'sunshine vitamin' because the human body can produce it naturally when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet B (UVB) rays from sunlight. Despite this, vitamin D deficiency is remarkably common even in sunny countries like India, particularly among people who spend most of their time indoors.
Ziacal Suspension is best taken with or after a meal, as food helps improve calcium absorption. Shake the bottle well before each use. Take it as prescribed by your doctor or as per label instructions.
Always follow the dosage and schedule advised by your doctor — this is general guidance only.
Calcium supplements are generally well tolerated. Mild constipation, bloating, or gas may occasionally occur. Taking the suspension with meals and maintaining adequate hydration can minimise these effects. Tell your doctor if any side effect is severe or persistent.
Drinking milk is always enough to meet calcium needs.
While dairy products are a good source of calcium, many people — including lactose-intolerant individuals, elderly people, growing children, and pregnant women — may not get enough calcium from diet alone and can benefit from supplementation.
Taking calcium alone is sufficient for bone health.
Calcium needs Vitamin D to be properly absorbed. Without adequate Vitamin D, a significant portion of dietary or supplemental calcium is not absorbed by the body. That is why calcium and Vitamin D3 are best taken together.
