Ziacox P Tablet combines Etoricoxib 60 mg and Paracetamol 325 mg in a single tablet, delivering dual-pathway pain relief. Etoricoxib selectively blocks the COX-2 enzyme to reduce inflammation, while Paracetamol provides additional central analgesic and antipyretic action — together offering more complete pain relief than either agent alone.
This combination is well suited for conditions where both inflammatory and non-inflammatory pain components coexist, such as osteoarthritis, dental pain, postoperative pain, and acute musculoskeletal injuries. The addition of Paracetamol also helps keep the effective dose of the NSAID component reasonable.
This medicine is commonly used for:
Ziacox P is indicated for the symptomatic relief of acute and chronic pain states in adults where both anti-inflammatory and analgesic action are required, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, acute musculoskeletal pain, dental pain, and postoperative pain. The paracetamol component provides additional analgesia and antipyresis through a complementary central mechanism, enhancing overall pain control without increasing the NSAID dose.
Etoricoxib in Ziacox P reduces inflammation and pain by blocking COX-2, the enzyme that makes pain-causing prostaglandins in inflamed tissues. Paracetamol complements this by acting in the brain and spinal cord to raise the pain threshold and reduce fever. The two medicines together cover more aspects of pain than either one alone, providing effective multi-pathway relief.
Etoricoxib selectively inhibits COX-2, suppressing peripheral prostaglandin synthesis and reducing local inflammation, oedema, and nociceptor sensitisation. Paracetamol's mechanism involves inhibition of central prostaglandin synthesis (particularly in the CNS), activation of the descending serotonergic inhibitory pathways, and possible cannabinoid receptor interaction via its active metabolite AM404, collectively raising the central pain threshold. The peripheral anti-inflammatory action of Etoricoxib combined with the central analgesic modulation of Paracetamol provides broader analgesia than either component alone, while the lower NSAID dose limits cardiovascular and gastrointestinal risk.
Combining an NSAID with Paracetamol is a recognised analgesic strategy in pain management guidelines. Because they act through different mechanisms — Etoricoxib targeting peripheral prostaglandins and Paracetamol working centrally — the combination provides additive pain relief, allowing doctors to achieve good control with lower doses of each medicine.
Ziacox P is taken as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily depending on your condition. It can be taken with or without food. Avoid taking additional paracetamol-containing medicines while on this tablet. Always follow your doctor's instructions on dose and duration.
Always follow the dosage and schedule advised by your doctor — this is general guidance only.
Common side effects include headache, dizziness, stomach discomfort, nausea, and oedema (from the Etoricoxib component). Paracetamol is generally very well tolerated at recommended doses. Avoid exceeding the prescribed dose as excess paracetamol can harm the liver. Tell your doctor if any side effect is severe or persistent.
Paracetamol does not help with inflammatory pain.
Paracetamol is primarily a central analgesic and antipyretic rather than an anti-inflammatory drug, but it still effectively relieves pain perception regardless of whether the cause is inflammatory. Combined with the anti-inflammatory Etoricoxib in Ziacox P, it enhances overall pain relief.
Combining two pain medicines is always dangerous.
When two medicines work through complementary mechanisms — as Etoricoxib and Paracetamol do in Ziacox P — their combination is scientifically rational, well-studied, and widely used in clinical practice. What matters is following prescribed doses and not adding more of either medicine on top.
